The GMAT is an academic test to help assess suitability for graduate management programs at universities. One of the abilities that this test tries to assess is the ability of candidates to reason quantitatively. This part of the test is often called the Quantitative or Quant section. There is a 75 minute test of basic mathematics and algebra skills involving thirty-seven short questions. Understanding of basic quantitative concepts and the ability to reason quantitatively is sought. The syllabus for this examination is high school with no advanced topics such as trigonometry, topology or calculus.
